What you will do

A digital marketing specialist is the generalist of the team. In a small or mid-sized company you might run Google and Meta ads on Monday, write the newsletter on Tuesday and fix the tracking on Wednesday. In a bigger company the role is narrower: one or two channels and a monthly report to the marketing manager.

Skills you use

  • Channel basics: search, social, email, SEO
  • Reading GA4 and ad platform reports
  • Writing clear ad and email copy
  • Spreadsheet work: budgets and simple forecasts
  • Prioritising when everything looks urgent
  • Explaining numbers in plain language

Tools

  • Google Ads
  • Meta Ads Manager
  • GA4
  • Google Search Console
  • Looker Studio
  • Mailchimp
  • Canva

Typical tasks

  • Plan and launch campaigns on Google Ads and Meta with a fixed monthly budget
  • Check that the website and forms record conversions correctly in GA4
  • Write and schedule email campaigns and social posts with the content team
  • Review results every week and move budget toward what brings customers at an acceptable cost
  • Prepare a monthly report that explains the results to people who are not marketers

Questions

Do I need a degree to become a digital marketing specialist?

Many employers ask for one, but most care more about proof that you can run a campaign and read the numbers. Real projects in a portfolio, plus working knowledge of Google Ads, Meta and GA4, carry a lot of weight at entry level.

Should I specialise or stay a generalist?

Entry-level roles reward breadth, because small teams need people who can do several things. After a year or two most people pick a lane, such as paid media, SEO or CRM, because pay and seniority tend to grow faster there.

Where do the salary numbers come from?

From published salary surveys, official statistics and job listings. Every country lists its sources with dates, and each row carries a confidence rating. The ranges are typical, not promises, and your offer depends on the company, the city and your skills.

Does FunnelGym guarantee a job?

No. FunnelGym teaches by practice and gives you projects to show. Hiring is the employer's decision, and results depend on your own experience and effort.

How often is the data updated?

We refresh it regularly and show the last collection date for each country. When a number is missing, we say that it is being researched rather than guess.
